Latest work
In my latest work, by following the example of manuscripts from the early Middle Ages, I combine the formal discipline of geometry with organic forms and freedom of imagination, inviting the viewer to discover a new, enigmatic world. This mysterious balance of seemingly incompatible animal shapes and geometric motifs on a gilded base attracted me to show in a similar way all the beauty of the spiritual meaning of the bee and its connection with the human being. Among other things, bees on my paintings represent the hope of salvation.
Bees first caught my attention when I was making a collage named “Disappeariance of a Man” (2020). I noticed then that bees are as aesthetically interesting as they are in terms of meaning, for the survival of life on Earth.
Since ancient times, human civilizations were organised in hierarchical structures in which power was held by kings. This structure survives to this day, in the way corporations function and finds it’s counterpart in the hierarchies built into the bee instinkt. Humans strive to bring order to their chaotic everyday life, but despite all efforts, they can´t find enough time for spiritual growth, freed from the basic necessities from the bottom of Maslow’s pyramid. In this sense, what makes human a Homo Sapiens is lost and he is slowly becoming a completely reduced human-like phenomenon deprived of previously acquired traits by Evolution.
In other words, human being is slowly disappearing, just like bees are threatened with extinction. Man has the potential to save the planet, but also to destroy it, while the bees retain only this noble potential for its salvation.
